Mixed Painted and Hardwood Kitchens

Plain and Simple

Three rooms, all with load bearing walls were knocked into one open area. This gave a large working kitchen, dining, seating and TV areas, aseperate utility room and a walk in larder. We produced the building plans, liaised with the structural engineers andsupervised the building works for our client..

The plain simple furniturein the main kitchen is made from English oak in a raw natural finish. The large range oven is housed in a false panelled inglenook and features a panel of stunning hand made tiles. Worktops and upstands are in light creamy granite and the floor is unfilled travertine.

The Georgian Country House

This mixed oak and painted kitchen is in a delightful Georgian house in the beautiful rolling hills of Dorset. The design incorporates the retention of many original features. An old iron range was discovered behind a wall in the inglenook: this was left in situ as a backdrop to the new Aga. A substantial oak chimney piece, mantle and brackets complete the area.

The original ceiling hooks were used to hang locally dried flowers. The floor is mainly the original boards, stripped, sanded and polished. The large painted dresser was copied from an existing base cupboard and glazed top section designed to compliment. The original pine top was used.
