Our brief was to produce a warm 'lived in' kitchen that would improve with age. It was agreed that the kitchen would consist of a series of freestanding cupboards, some in isolation and some abutting the more built in areas.
The "antiqued" English oak furniture, and black granite worktops are complimented by the terracotta floor. The homely look is cleverly achieved by our clients personal touch in displaying dried flowers, wicker baskets and a wide selection of China and object d'art.
We were asked to design this kitchen for a customer in the Cranborne Chase with a newly built but traditionally designed house. The main feature of the kitchen was the stunning view over open farmland through the huge bay window. The brief was a traditional wood kitchen, but with some modern motifs.
The wood is Oak, and we introduced curved units to echo the bay window. The modern shelf and cornice has stainless steel inserts which complements the modern stainless steel appliances. The light coloured Kashmir White granite worktops and the travertine marble floor, gives a clean and airy feel.
Our brief was to design and make a kitchen to suit our clients' authentic completely refurbished art deco house. The furniture is made from natural lacquered maple, with a triple stepped feature to the door and draw surrounds.
The same feature is echoed again in the brackets, upstands, pelmets and the repro art deco chrome door furniture. Worktops are in honed black granite and the floor is black slate.
Stainless steel, toughened glass and chrome are used extensively throughout.
Our task was to produce a kitchen with a modern feel, but using very high quality traditionally made furniture in English oak. Bold simple cupboards with no mouldings, large panelled doors and elongated pan drawers coupled with the use of polished black granite worktops, stainless steel appliances and chrome door furniture help to achieve this aim. The floor is riven green slate.
